I have a confession... several years ago I had to uninstall Candy Crush because it was affecting my life! I actually had it on my smartphone at two separate times, and each time I had to uninstall it, but I haven't gone back to it. I never got very far... maybe just a bit past level 100 or so. I haven't played it in probably 5 years.
So how could a simple little ridiculous game affect me? let me tell you...
I loved all the sound affects, or when all the candies on the board would pop and explode... and the guy says "Devine!". Maybe I should just look for a sound board if that's all I want, LOL.
How did I even have time to be playing? I was on maternity leave with Michael so between feeding, changing, and keeping house clean, making meals, etc, I had some time to waste. BTW, I know there are much better ways to pass time, and that this was really just a waste of time, so let's move on...
Looking at my phone instead of my surroundings. Another red flag was when we were on a family walk through Ojibway Prairie Complex, and I'm pushing a stroller with one hand and in the other... I'm playing Candy Crush. ?!?!?! I have to cringe at the thought I was doing that instead of enjoying the nature around me.
Buildings looked like Candy Crush Grids. If I drove by a tall building downtown and the windows were in a perfect grid pattern... well, in my mind all I could see was candy pieces "dropping" into the grid.
and this is the most embarrassing...
Candy Crush faces. I would look at a face and see their features replaced by candy crush opportunities... for example... "if this persons nose looked like an eye, I can swap it with the space above and get 3-in-a-row candy crush". WTF? that sounds really messed up guys!
So, ... for all these reasons put together, I had to uninstall Candy Crush and vow to never get sucked into it again. It's the reason I have very few games on my phone at all; I get consumed by them and everything starts to look like the game.
