Hey Nerds,
Welcome to the first week of 2019. After a little hiatus from exercising during December, it's time to get back into the "kettle bell swing" of things and start exercising. I like to workout at 5:15/5:20 am! Not really by choice, but by circumstance. I can't workout during the day because I work, and when I get home from work, life seems hectic between kids, dinner, homework, and activities. I've tried working out after the kids go to bed, but I'm wiped out mentally by that time. Therefore, early mornings work for me, and I get to enjoy some solitude before the house wakes up with a buzz of "mommy" and "babe" requests.
Alright, so I've decided that I'm going to commit to exercising again; now, to pick a program to follow. Have you ever heard of Fitness Blender? It's a husband and wife (Daniel and Kelli) team living outside of Seattle, that create amazing workout videos and content out of their garage-turned-studio. Here's an article that's a bit dated from 2015, but a nice write up none the less, or you can read "about" them directly from their site here. I've been using their videos since they started in 2010. They're adorable to watch, and, they have such a wide variety of workout videos, you can find something to do; you can search on the length of time to workout, the intensity, and which body part(s) you're looking to exercise.
All their workouts are FREE, which is amazing. However, if you like more structure and want to be told what to do, you can purchase programs, which tell you which workouts to follow on which days. I purchased two programs to start off my 2019, but the first one I'll be doing is a 4-week program called "FB Low Impact - Fat Loss Program - 40 Minutes or Less". The title about sums it up. Since I haven't worked out for well over a month, I want something with no jumping. I dunno, I think I have weak ankles if that makes sense, or my knees aren't what they used to be, or I'm just getting older,... or making excuses.
You can see a complete list of their plans here: https://www.fitnessblender.com/plans. The programs are priced from USD $10 - $15, which to me, are worth it to support them. Once you've purchased the program you can set a schedule for it as many times as you want. They also offer nutrition plans outlining what to eat everyday; I purchased one years ago for some ideas, but I prefer following Weight Watchers. For years they have done all their filming and editing on their own. They've had much earned success and have expanded their team. They've also launched a clothing line in the last month or two with their catch phrase "Workout Complete" on the clothing. You would think this post is sponsored by the way I'm talking about them, but it's not!
So, I know that typically people get on the health bandwagon January 1, but festivities are still happening here, so I'll be kicking things off on January 7th. That's when the kids go back to school so I'll feel like everything is on a "normal" schedule again.
Is fitness one of your 2019 goals? What program do you like following? Will you check out Fitness Blender?

DeleteI like following my own program: walking & aerobics inside during the winter, sometimes to peppy music, and walking outside the rest of the year. I have a "Lifetime" (gym) membership, but haven't been using it, so I've decided to go back, especially to use the whirlpool and sauna after exercising. I've also taken water aerobics classes there, but I'm not really a "water" person (even though I'm a Pisces.) It's all older women, so I don't feel bad about exposing my body, but they have been going for many years and are very "clickish." Even though I've been invited to their luncheons and parties, I've always felt like an interloper, except for making one friend who is also a book lover. I also go to a "Chair Yoga" class; it is no less challenging than mat Yoga; like it because I don't have to get down on the mat - this old body doesn't like getting up from and down to the floor! Take a Tai Chi class for arthritis, as well. Both classes help me with balance. Since the hip replacement surgery, body is a little off-kilter. I will check out the "Fitness Blender" - always good to incorporate new moves.
