Back to School Shopping - Printable

Hey Nerds,

We’re finally starting to think about back to school at our household.  I remember as a kid… heck, all the way thru university to be honest, I loved getting new supplies: binders, pens, back pack, a fun notebook, etc.  After I got everything home, unpacked, and organized, then I would do a sales skit like it was the “home shopping network” and I would explain (to an imaginary audience) what new supplies I had.

I remember saying things like “how cool is this binder with these extra pockets, and what a fun design on the cover.  It’ll sure keep you organized and cool thru the year”, or “This pencil case is roomy enough to hold all 24 of your Laurentian colored pencils”.  I had a vivid imagination when I was young.

My sons' school sent home a list of school supplies to purchase for the new year.  In previous years I used the school list to go shopping, plus scribbled my own list of other items the kid’s needed, but I had multiple lists and never organized enough to know what I had left to buy.
I’m going to let you in on another little “Ivana-ism”:  I use spreadsheets to make lists and organize so many things in my life: parties, trips, Christmas shopping, chores, … hit lists.
So last year I built up a list of potential items to purchase for my grade-school age boys.  It included school supplies, outer wear/gear, and clothing.  Then there’s a column where you can put a “Y” (yes) or a “N” (no) if it needs to be purchased.  Next column is where you can check off that you’ve purchased it, and yet another column is for a personal note (i.e. if there’s a specific store to go buy an item).  My list is built for my boy’s wardrobe requirements, so feel free to adjust it to your needs, or add more items, etc.

But before we get to that... Here's my question for you (please answer in the comments)...What do you call these?
I’ve always called them colored pencils, but most Canadians call them pencil crayons… say whaaaaaaaat?  Well, I came to find out, this is a United States Vs. Canadian thing.  The U.S. calls them Colored Pencils and Canadians call them Pencil Crayons.  Because I live in a border city, and most of our TV is from the US, I guess we’ve just picked up the US’s phrase.

Here’s a little explanation of my shopping list:

  1. A spreadsheet for everything - "To-Do", books, financial, links to what I to read later..., packing, traveling locally & internationally and the list goes on. We have that in common for sure.
