I know I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this... but, school is back in session next week and I'm feeling excited! You might think I'm a SAHM, and that's why I'm excited.. but, no. I have a full time job, and I'm still excited. My boys and my hubby (he's a teacher) have been off for the summer. My younger son asked me everyday if I was going to work again. I explained that only students and teachers get "summer breaks".

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the family time, vacation (meeting a celebrity too), BBQs, great weather, bike rides, pool parties, splash pads, hikes, playdates at the park, popsicles, ice cream, late nights, and not making lunches... BUT..
I also crave the sanity of my house hold having a regular schedule, the kids settling down (read: kids going to bed) at a reasonable time, my kids expanding their minds instead of playing X Box, oh, and the fact that if my kids are at school during the day, they can't be spreading their Legos, dinky cars, and markers all over my tables and floors.
In my last post I shared my school shopping list. I took a couple days off with the boys to do our shopping and have lunch together. The kids backpacks are packed too! I have my "school paper processing" system set up. I probably have a few more things to take care of in regards to routines that makes our day go smoother. (In case you haven't figured it out yet, I really like things to be on a routine and schedule)
So, this weekend, while all teachers and students are dreading the "back to school" week, I'm doing a little dance inside. And I know other parents are too! And if your spouse is a teacher, I KNOW you're also excited.
Last year, the night before school, my son was having a lot of anxiety about starting school. After giving him a pep talk, encouragement, etc., he asked if I could find a prayer for the school year.
If your kids are feeling anxiety (and you pray), here's a nice little prayer for your child:
