Hey Nerds,
This post title isn't click bait... I really am stumped as to how I got nominated for a WE-tech Tech Award in the category of "Woman in Tech of the Year"... sure, I'm a programmer, but that's a hat I wear at work, and leave it there! I'm not up on the latest technology... I still think of fluffy white cotton balls when people say "the cloud".
However, I do think more females should pursue careers in STEM, and I like to act as a mentor/helper to the people I work with. I was in Computer Science at the University of Windsor at a time where females were still few and far between.
A couple of years ago I did a couple of activities thru WE-tech Alliance. Namely, I was a panelist at two of events they were involved in. One was a coding camp for high school girls, and another was the highly successful Build A Dream... but other than that I'm a very low key, out of the spot light type of person. Nor do I boast knowing more than I do...
SO... Who nominated me to be on this list, and why would they think I'm a good candidate? I would love some feed back, especially if you're the one that threw my name in the hat!
Ok, my fellow nerds, I guess what you could do for me is head over to WE-Tech Alliances FaceBook page (click here). Find the album/photo for "Finalist for 2019 Woman in Tech of the Year". It will look like this:
Each individual has their own emoticon to represent them... I'm an Angry face. Give the picture an Angry face reaction to vote for me.
