Halloween Chocolate Stash, Ranked

Hey Nerds,
if you do any kind of shopping, you would of seen all the Halloween candy and chips lining the store shelves in September (maybe in August?). I try to resist buying any too ahead of Halloween because, in the past, we end up eating it before Halloween, and then I have to go out and buy more.
I give out chip baggies and a selection of chocolates, specifically, Nestle brand, and Mars brand.  This year I also threw in a bag or Reece's Peanut Butter cups so I can write a blog post ranking the chocolates from favorite to least favorite.

Hey Nerds,
Welcome to the revamped "Life as a Nerdy Girl" blog.  The blog got a makeover, not me!

Shake up your Taco Tuesday - 3 Alternatives

Hey Nerds,
On a fairly consistent basis, I make tacos for dinner on Tuesday night... but it's actually not because of "Taco Tuesday".  My kids go to swimming lessons on Tuesday so I stick to making something that comes together quick without a lot of clean up.

"Taco Night" in my house, means that Dwayne's having tacos, Matthew and Michael might have tacos, or switch it up instead for nachos, or soft tacos made in mini tortilla bowls.  And for me, I'll either have a taco salad, taco lettuce cups, or taco zoodle bowl (my favorite).  My options are lower in carbs and fats, so if that's your thing, keep reading.

Feeling Oddly Uncomfortable... how did I end up on this list?

Hey Nerds,
This post title isn't click bait... I really am stumped as to how I got nominated for a WE-tech Tech Award in the category of "Woman in Tech of the Year"... sure, I'm a programmer, but that's a hat I wear at work, and leave it there!  I'm not up on the latest technology... I still think of fluffy white cotton balls when people say "the cloud".

GRWM... my nephew's wedding day...

Hey Nerds,
I had a lot of readers click on my post from December 2018 titled "Nerdy Girl goes Girly Girl".  So I'm bringing you another similar GRWM (Get Ready With Me) post this week!

My nephew and his beautiful bride got married last weekend (Congrats!).  This is the first wedding of the nieces and nephews, with more to come in the future I'm sure.  Let me take you through putting together my look, and any "beauty" treatments leading up to the day itself.  Sit back and grab a coffee because picking my dress and shoes made me feel so EXTRA (as in "girl, you're being extra annoying").  And I know some only came to scroll for the pictures.

I was embarrased my sister-in-law found this at my house...

Hey Nerds,
I think the title of the post is hilarious... did my sister in law found something salacious in my house?

Last year we were hosting a party at our house for Matthew and Michael's birthdays.  My sister-in-law, Dawn, was in the kitchen helping clear some of the trays of food and preparing to bring more out.  Then she walked up to me holding something up and and said "wow, this is amazing, where did you get it?".  I looked over at what she had and felt the color rising in my cheeks.

It's time to start Dancing in the Street... Back to School time!

Hey Nerds,
I know I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this... but, school is back in session next week and I'm feeling excited!  You might think I'm a SAHM, and that's why I'm excited.. but, no.  I have a full time job, and I'm still excited.  My boys and my hubby (he's a teacher) have been off for the summer.  My younger son asked me everyday if I was going to work again.  I explained that only students and teachers get "summer breaks".

late evening at Point Pelee

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the family time, vacation (meeting a celebrity too), BBQs, great weather, bike rides, pool parties, splash pads, hikes, playdates at the park, popsicles, ice cream, late nights, and not making lunches... BUT..

Back to School Shopping - Printable

Hey Nerds,

We’re finally starting to think about back to school at our household.  I remember as a kid… heck, all the way thru university to be honest, I loved getting new supplies: binders, pens, back pack, a fun notebook, etc.  After I got everything home, unpacked, and organized, then I would do a sales skit like it was the “home shopping network” and I would explain (to an imaginary audience) what new supplies I had.

12 days of discovering beautiful Ontario

Hey nerds,
It's summer, the kids are out of school, and the hubby is off work (teacher) and it was time to consider our summer road trip.  We sat there looking at a map of Ontario.  We were going to Toronto for a wedding and also wanted to hit Ottawa on our trip to visit family, but we didn't want to just do Toronto to Ottawa.  I looked at the map and my eyes settled on North Bay (never heard of it before) and said "There. Lets do a road trip along the Trans Canada highway and stop at North Bay".  So, for 12 days, we took a nice family road trip:
Starting  in Windsor - Toronto - French River/Killarney - North Bay - Petawawa/Pembroke - Smiths Falls - Ottawa - back Home.
Load the play list with fun songs (yes, Old Town Road was on it and the kids sang it at least 20+ times on the trip), and hop in the car.

The post you've all been waiting for... the best Chocolate Chip Cookie

Hey Nerds,
I don't mean to brag, but, my chocolate chip cookies are AHH-mazing! I'm going to share with you my very famous, highly requested, chocolate chip cookie recipe.  What makes these cookies so dreamy?  crisp bottom, chewy center, loads of chocolate. drooool.  I'm feeling weak in the knees just talking about them.

Travelling When You're a Creature of Habit

I just recently got back from a little road trip with the family to Kawartha Lakes and Toronto.  It was originally a 4-night stay that turned into 5, and I'm glad to be back home.  In March, we went to Florida, and also there, by the 4th-5th day, I start to feel like "I've had enough, take me home".  I'm a creature of habit. I like the food I cook (usually make something healthy), I like my bed that has an indentation of my body, I like my shower, my kitchen, and gasp... my daily routine.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Being an introvert in social situations, described by Venn diagrams

Hey Nerds,
I sometimes debate about how much to put out there on this blog... I've kept things more on "surface" level, not letting y'all in too much into my mind.  However, I thought of a good blog post to share that crosses that line a bit, so pull up a seat and get cozy...

New Month, New Approach

Hey Nerds,
January has come to an end, and unfortunately, as far as diet and exercise is concerned, what I did this past month did not work in my favor.  I actually gained weight this month instead of losing weight, even though I was exercising 5 days/week and following Weight Watchers.  It’s easy to beat myself up, but, that won’t do anything, so it’s time to rethink my strategy and try to figure out what possibly backfired.

I bit the FitBit bullet.... and I like it!

Hey Nerds,
For about a year I had been debating getting a fitness tracker.  The biggest reason I wanted one was because I wanted to know my heart rate while exercising.  There were many times while exercising where I thought to myself... "I don't think I'm pushing myself as hard as I should".  I figured if I could see my heart rate while exercising, then I could see I need to work a little harder, or, I'm exerting myself just fine.

Fitness Blender, my favorite YouTube Fitness Couple

Hey Nerds,
Welcome to the first week of 2019.  After a little hiatus from exercising during December, it's time to get back into the "kettle bell swing" of things and start exercising.  I like to workout at 5:15/5:20 am!  Not really by choice, but by circumstance.  I can't workout during the day because I work, and when I get home from work, life seems hectic between kids, dinner, homework,  and activities.  I've tried working out after the kids go to bed, but I'm wiped out mentally by that time.  Therefore, early mornings work for me, and I get to enjoy some solitude before the house wakes up with a buzz of "mommy" and "babe" requests.
